This short video encapsulates why the steps in shamatha practice are what they are – no matter who’s teaching it.
Shamatha is the only ground for meditation. In fact, shamatha is the closest experience that one can have of buddha nature (monadic/buddhic/Christ consciousness/universal consciousness) until one achieves samadhi. Then that is the closest. But, samadhi is the matured shamatha-state.
The advancing meditation follows upon the six-minute presentation in the same video. The podcast is the same as the video but is downloadable. Obviously, without the visuals!
