No doubt, as one watches the monks walking across America, one wonders “would I do that?” , “could I do that?”. Like many aligned along roadways or walking some distance with them, we bow to them.
Yet, we can do this, too! We can be this. Master Thich Nhat Han consistently reminded us that “peace is every step.” That begins from within, and is initiated with the personal invitation or injunction that one can embody peace by thoughtfully living peace in every step.
It begins within. Our mind, clothed in the mind-emotion complex of the self, is the starting point of every step whether walking in Nature, walking in the grocery store, walking in the hallways of work or home. Is peace in every step? It can be.
