Meditation: individuation and distraction

A couple of weeks ago, practitioners were encouraged to observe their preferences. It was a ‘notice the usually not noticed’ exploration of how our preferences for or against direct us through a day.

Last week practitioners were invited to observe the relationship between preferences and distraction in one’s day and life. The point was made at the end of the week that, for the  most part, we like our distractions and like what distracts us. Choice was now introduced, that we have choice: choose distraction or choose Presence and Awareness.

This Tuesday’s preliminary contemplation was on the sense of personal uniqueness, i.e. identity, and its relationship with the particularity of the distractions we choose or are beguiled by. We, then, meditated.
