Random garden joy 12: babies grow, time passes

The Monarch caterpillars are a few weeks old now. Still munching away on the milkweed. The little black pellets are poop. Seems that they are eating well!

Hollyhocks, bachelor buttons, mexican hats, and gaillardia are all going by, to the point where some are ready for seed gathering.

Cherry and grape tomatoes are being picked every other day; shelling peas every few days from the stand that came back once the intense summer sun started to wane.

Zinnias and marigolds are still putting on a show, and the cosmos are coming into their flamboyance.

The corn is yummy! My daughter is here for a visit. We’re enjoying the bounty. Thank you, Mother Nature!

Below is a dwarf sunflower: the face is 8-9 inches across on a 3 ft. stalk; a crimson hollyhock that grew within the young apple tree’s branches; broccoli purposefully going to flower and seed; and chamomile with a native bee.
