We had a two and a half day retreat focused on bodhichitta. It highlighted the ongoing transformative processes that result as bodhi infuses chitta. For example, softening and opening (bodhi) softens the rigidity of the personal mind and opens it from a contracted state. The more frequently one softens and opens, the more open the mind becomes and the sense of self becomes less guarded, self-referencing, and self-focused. An infusion is happening. Patience, presence, kindness, and letting are increasing; so is self-reflection. Infusion engenders transmutation of coarser emotions into higher and thoughts of pettiness or unkindness are reduced and arise less frequently.
With consistency in one’s dedication to tame and train one’s self, infusion eventually fosters a transfiguration of the personality. One is changed; for the better and benefit of all.
