We are all a work in progress. My experience is that everything and everyone is a teacher. It has been a joy to receive the assistance of others along the Path and to offer some as well. Some of the insights that have touched my heart are shared here.
Fearless engagement is the Path that calls me. It is a dance with the edge and an occasional collapse into the void. My name is Donna Mitchell-Moniak. This photo is from the summer of 2006 at my sister, Lynda’s, wedding to Nick.
For several years, much of my work related to living consciously and the unveiling of pure Being was given through Spirit Fire, online and on-location, the meditative retreat center and organization that I founded in 2003 in the beauty and serenity of Leyden, MA. But, in 2015, I stepped down from all decision-making, Board participation, and from teaching online programs. Doing so was best for the organization as MS physical dysfunction increased and, more importantly, as Steve Kramer and Tim Darter were available to work their creative magic to accomplish the Mission and Vision of Spirit Fire. I am forever grateful to their dedication, tirelessness, and the wide-ranging skills they brought to bear to the fullness of Spirit Fire.
I now live in Jaroso, Colorado, a tiny hamlet of less than 100 people in the San Luis Valley of south-central Colorado, minutes from the New Mexico border. Mountains in three directions and living at 7800 ft. fulfills my aspiration to be a meditator in the mountains focused on the awakening of all beings. All creative solutions to the world’s problems lie within the awakening of humanity. May my practice by tireless. May all beings awaken.

Playing blocks
Together we build blocks
Piling them high as possible.
Then you push them over and laugh.
I balk.
Awkwardly I am already attached.
That stack of colourful wooden pieces had already become an extension of my identity.
In a moment you’ve built another and
knocked it down again.
Laughing with delight.
I meditate for hours and don’t even come close to that level of non-attachment.

In my judgment we are surrounded by young enlightened beings and we just need to observe and take heed. They need to teach us not the other way round. That is the fundamental premise for the work.

I think that idea is noble. Along that line, I created a thrust for classes and retreats for mothers to be about the precious life in their womb. To goal is to bring back the sacredness of mothering. Once that gets going then I would hook up with a father of similar ideas and create retreats and programs for fathers.
I agree with you completely about who is teaching whom. Maybe in a couple of years I’ll be in touch with you about the “father” gig. !!
