The Sun through Space

There are many astronomy and astro-physics discoveries of the last decade that are quickly undoing our collective myopia. Our precious planet is rare and jewel-like, but it is likely that others equally jewel-like and bearing life are orbiting suns. Even more mind blowing is the staggering but logical understanding that our Sun is careening through space at amazing speeds with its planets in tow. Some of the simulations of this movement make one giddy with amazement.

Now the latest deductions are that the Sun is actually corksrewing a spiral pattern around the equator of the Orion arm of the Milky Way galaxy. It has been known that “we are here” in the Orion arm, but only recently has the motion been understood. This short video is a great visual presentation.
